The Pics

Here we are. About 10 minutes after the delivery.

The rest of the story...

Well, it was the end of June 2006 and both Steph and I lost our jobs within 1 week from each other. It turned out to be a huge blessing for us that we could never have imagined. So, what else do two, happily married, jobless, babyless, people do except jump in a rented, silver Dodge Neon and a tent and see the country. We took the whole month of July and traveled.

We took off from Fort Wayne and headed to Marrietta, OH for the annual fourth of July celebration with the Morgenstern (Steph's maternal side) family. From there we went to Cleveland to stay with a couple of our great friends, Andy and Meri Sikora for a few days. We also spent a night with Steph's Grandma Slavik and Uncle Craig. From there we headed for our first leg of the journey. We first went to Lake Placid, NY for some camping, hiking, site seeing (site of 2 winter olympics) and what ever else there is to do in the Adirondak Mts.

From there we went to Bar Harbor, Maine. And, for the sake of time, I'll just give and overview of the rest. From Maine we headed toward Boston, then to Philly, then to New York City, then to Washington D.C., then to Virginia Beach, then to Knoxville, Tennessee. This is where Ella enters the picture.

We were staying at Steph's Aunt Joyce and Uncle Greg's house in Knoxville. We took off after a few days of visiting to head to the Smokey Mountains - our last stop of hiking and camping before heading home. Literally on our way to the Smokeys, Steph started complaining of stomach pains that reminded her of pains she had during a previous ectopic pregnancy. So we pulled over somewhere in Tennessee at a Walgreens and bought a "test". From there we went to a gas station to see what was going on. A few minutes later, Steph emerged from the bathroom, jumped in the car, and said "The test is positive."

She was given instructions to go to the hospital (because of the previous complications) by her doctor. So, we turned the silver Neon around and headed back to Knoxville. We checked her in to the hospital where she stayed for two nights. Then we stayed in Knoxville for a few more days until we were cleard to head home.

9 months later... Ella Elizabeth is here!!!!!!!!

Wow. We are so thankful to God for His faithfulness over the last 2 years and for giving us such a wonderful gift.

Here's mom waiting the arrival of Ella. We took this picture a few weeks ago one Sunday afternoon. We were a little bored/ready/excited so we had to have a little outlet. What better way than to shoot a few fun pics.
